New York, November 24, 2008
Marsh & McLennan Companies, Inc (MMC) honored two female executives at the 35th annual YWCA-NYC Academy of Women Leaders Salute Luncheon, held at the Hilton New York City Hotel last Monday.
Betsy Blumenthal, a senior managing director at Kroll, and Suzanne Hogan, chief operating officer of Lippincott, were among 42 women recognized at the event this year for their outstanding professional achievement, civic commitment and demonstrated leadership. The YWCA-NYC, founded 150 years ago and the first of its kind in the country, established the Salute in 1974 to honor trailblazing women in business who exemplify the mission of the organization. More than 3,000 women have been inducted into the Academy of Women Leaders since its inception.
“This event is a wonderful opportunity to showcase the contributions of these dedicated and accomplished women,” said Kathryn Komsa, Vice President of Diversity and Inclusion at MMC.
MMC has participated in the Salute luncheon for 25 years. A cross-MMC panel selected the honorees from a field of candidates nominated by MMC’s operating companies across the country.
Ms. Hogan of Lippincott, a leading brand strategy and design consultancy within the Oliver Wyman Group, has been a corporate brand consultant for 26 years and has advised a number of Fortune 500 companies. She has lent her branding talents to non-profit organizations such as Lighthouse International, Management Leadership for Tomorrow (MLT) and Save the Children.
Ms. Blumenthal is in the Business Intelligence and Investigations practice at Kroll, the world’s leading risk consulting company. She is involved with the International Rescue Committee, a humanitarian organization which runs refugee camps in 40 countries and assists in resettling refugees who have come to the U.S. and U.K. She is also active in children’s causes and serves on the board of San Francisco’s Legal Services for Children and as an auxiliary board member for the East Harlem Tutorial Program.
